The Volsung wellbore simulator is designed with visual features and built on sound physical principles, it provides detailed wellbore models in less time, enabling greater insight into well performance.
Â
What will the course cover?
• Setting up a wellbore model in Volsung: Defining the well track, casing, heat loss and feed zone properties
• Defining thermodynamic conditions of the fluid
• Specifying field data
• Calibrating the model to flowing pressure, temperature, and spinner (PTS) data
• Calculating a production well deliverability curve
• Forecasting changes in well performance in response to changes in reservoir and well conditions
Vaiva is a professional hydrogeologist with experience in the geothermal industry. She obtained her BSc degree in Hydrogeology from Vilnius University and MSc in Geothermal Energy from the University of Iceland.Â
Vaiva enjoys teaching and is passionate about geological modelling, geothermal resources estimation and mapping.Â
Â
Before joining Seequent Vaiva worked for Reykjavik University, Iceland GeoSurvey and Catalan GeoSurvey. Her responsibilities included teaching, 3D geological modelling, geothermal resources monitoring, mapping, and estimation.  Â
Vaiva currently works as a Customer Solutions Specialist within Seequent's Energy Team, where she focuses on teaching, workflow development and providing optimised solutions to geothermal industry professionals.Â
Jonathon is a geothermal reservoir engineer with specialist skills in reservoir simulation. He has over ten years of geothermal industry experience working on projects in most geothermal regions of the world. Jonathon obtained a B.A. (1st class honors, Computer Science) and a B.Sc (Physics) from the University of Otago and a Ph.D (Physics) from the University of Sydney.
Jonathon regularly gives guest lectures at universities and industry training courses on reservoir modelling and geothermal resource assessment. His core interest is taking a multi-disciplinary approach and using mathematical models to enable better management of geothermal reservoirs.
Jonathon is the co-founder of the geothermal consultancy Flow State Solutions Ltd, co-developer of the Volsung Geothermal Simulation software package and is the Technical Domain Expert, of Reservoir Engineering for Seequent.
