TechTalk: Mastering SEEP/W Analysis: Interrogating Seepage Results and Dealing with Convergence Issues
In September's GeoStudio TechTalk, we will consider one of the most crucial parts of seepage modelling that is often overlooked: results interrogation. This step is necessary for assessing the quality of the simulation, including a review of the model convergence.

Join Seequent's Vincent Castonguay in this free webinar, and listen to him:
Â
â—¾ Demonstrate how to plot flux sections;
â—¾ Explain the importance of the unsaturated material model;
â—¾ Review the convergence schemes in GeoStudio and why they are necessary;
â—¾ Consider the potential causes of convergence issues in seepage analyses; and

Vincent Castonguay did his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in civil engineering at Université Laval (Québec City, Canada). His doctoral research led him to explore the inner workings of the NorSand constitutive law, in order to improve its behaviour prediction capabilities for sands subjected to cyclic loading. He joined the GeoStudio research and development team at Seequent in 2020, where he primarily works on the development of the SIGMA/W module.
Vincent served as the Young Professional Representative on the Canadian Geotechnical Society's national executive committee for 2020-2021. He was also co-chair of the organizing committee for the 2019 St.John’s cYGEGC. The time he has left in a week is ideally spent hiking, sleeping in a tent, or breaking his hands on a climbing wall.
