Seequent, the Bentley Subsurface company, is conducting a 3-day workshop on the connected subsurface workflow from geotechnical data collection to numerical analysis, using software from Seequent's diverse portfolio. The demonstrated workflow will include OpenGround, Leapfrog Works, CENTRAL, GeoStudio, and PLAXIS.
This instructor-led workshop will be focused on demonstrating the digital journey of geotechnical data from a data storage and data management platform to geotechnical design in an analysis environment.
Â
What will the webinar entail?
Attendees will receive hands-on training on the following:
- Using OpenGround for managing ground investigation data
- Importing borehole data into Leapfrog Works from OpenGround
- Visualisation of ground investigation data and creation of geological model in Leapfrog Works
- Publishing geological models to CENTRAL for sharing and version control
- Importing geometry and geological models into GeoStudio using CENTRAL for undertaking 2D&3D numerical analyses
- Importing cross-sections into PLAXIS for conducting stress-strain analysis
- Engaging Q&A with product experts
What should I have?
- Please have your own laptop with the latest version of all the software installed, as mentioned in this workflow, as well as a mouse and charger.
- Prior to your course, you will be contacted via email with instructions for accessing the respective subscriptions of the software for the duration of your training, along with resources to downloadÂ
Sudur is a former consultant Geotechnical Engineer with prior experience in UK design firms like Atkins and A-squared Studio Engineers. During his time consulting, he was involved in detailed substructure design – pad foundations, deep foundations, retaining walls – for major infrastructure projects, such as, East-West Rail, HS2, nuclear power plants (Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, Bradwell C). He was also involved in designing comprehensive foundations schemes for tall buildings in congested urban London locations. For all these design works he was engaged in deriving solutions from established design frameworks and extensive numerical modelling.
Â
Sudur graduated in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, India. He then completed an MSc in Soil Mechanics and Engineering Seismology from Imperial College, London.
Sudur is presently a Customer Solutions Specialist at Seequent (The Bentley subsurface company) where he is focused on providing the most optimized solutions for professionals involved in subsurface engineering. His primary areas of focus are PLAXIS and GeoStudio.Â
Kathryn Dompierre completed a M.Sc. in environmental policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Ph.D. in civil engineering at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, Canada).
Her doctoral research explored the movement of pore water, contaminants, and energy through oil sands fine tailings using field testing and numerical analyses.
She joined the GeoStudio engineering team in 2016, and now manages the learning and technical content related to GeoStudio. Kathryn is involved in the Women in Engineering committee for Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba and serves on the boards of two environmental NGOs: Lake Winnipeg Foundation and Manitoba Eco-Network.
Phil Child is a senior consultant with the GIM services team. Along with other members of the team he assists new clients in implementing the OpenGround suite of applications. Having held a variety of roles he is particularly passionate about training, coaching and learning having himself spent far too long at university.
He is also an active member of the AGS serving on both the data management and instrumentation and monitoring working groups.Â
Pedro Reis is part of the User success team at Bentley Systems since 2020. As a Geotechnical Support Engineer, his main task is to provide assistance to PLAXIS users with their everyday geotechnical challenges.
Besides PLAXIS support, Pedro is also involved in online and in-person courses concerning the application of geotechnical numerical modelling.Â
He has a background in Geotechnical and Mining Engineering with a comprehensive 4-year background in the engineering industry. Given his background alongside the acquirement of Seequent in 2021, Pedro has also been involved in the interoperability between Leapfrog and PLAXIS which have resulted in feature improvements to ease the workflow between the two software’s.Â
