Session four | Advanced inversion modelling in Oasis montaj

Today's geoscience teams are increasingly expected to convert gravity and magnetic survey data into actionable geological insights that support exploration, resource development, and risk reduction. Interpreting geophysical anomalies presents challenges because multiple geological scenarios can often explain the same observed response.

While Oasis montaj VOXI provides a powerful cloud-based inversion platform that transforms gravity and magnetic data into 3D subsurface models, the quality of the interpretation depends on understanding the assumptions, constraints, and limitations that underpin inversion results.

Session four in our Oasis montaj Mastery Series is designed to help you move beyond simply generating inversion models and toward critically evaluating, integrating, and interpreting them with confidence. Our Oasis montaj Master will teach you how to assess model reliability, recognise common pitfalls, and extract greater geological value from VOXI gravity and magnetic inversions to support more informed decision-making.

In this session, you will learn how to:

- Grasp VOXI fundamentals: Learn how parameters, constraints, and ambiguity shape inversion results.

- Optimise computational parameters: Balance model resolution and survey limits by mastering cell size, model extents, and parameter design.

- Compare inversion types: See how using constraints improves model geometry.

- Recognise depth ambiguity: Understand the limits of vertical and lateral resolution in your models.

- Apply geological context: Connect model outputs with geological information to constrain your inversion.

- Interrogate models confidently: Use advanced visualisation to analyse results and avoid artifacts.

- Integrate multiple datasets: Combine inversions with other data to maximise geological insight.

Don’t just use Oasis montaj – master it.

Run globally throughout 2026, our Oasis montaj Mastery Series takes you beyond routine workflows, teaching you the advanced skills to precisely process, filter, and analyse your data, to improve your interpretations.

Each session focuses on the reasoning, decisions, and workflow knowledge that helps you use Oasis montaj more confidently and effectively, whatever type of data you work with.

Date/Time

September 10, 2026

12:00pm – 1:30pm PDT (Vancouver time)

Session four is hosted by our Oasis montaj Master based in Vancouver, Canada. If the time zone doesn’t align for you, register to watch on demand, and keep an eye out for future live sessions in your time zone.

Oasis montaj Mastery Community Group

Join our dedicated community group created exclusively for this series, where you can dive into session discussions, tackle post-session challenges, take part in interactive polls, and stay connected with fellow participants throughout the journey.

Who should attend?

This series is suitable for all Oasis montaj users, particularly those who have established foundational skills in the software but are looking to elevate their expertise, to become more confident and efficient in the tool.

Meet the Master:

Josh Sellars is a project geophysicist specialising in geophysical processing, interpretation, and geological modelling for energy exploration and feasibility studies. He holds a Bachelor's in Geophysics from Memorial University and is registered as a Professional Geoscientist through Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Josh has extensive experience using Oasis montaj and Leapfrog for geothermal exploration projects.

Integration and management of data from multiple fields of geoscience is key to developing a holistic understanding of the subsurface, which is Josh's key area of focus at Seequent. Josh joined Seequent in 2017 and is based in Vancouver, Canada. In his current role as project geophysicist, he contributes to training, support, and technical advice to Oasis montaj and Leapfrog users in North America.
