New to Oasis montaj and UXO Marine or just looking for a refresher?
This training includes industry best practices for processing and interpretation of your UXO marine magnetometer offshore geophysical survey data, to locate and analyze unexploded ordnance targets. This course is for new and experience UXO marine users.
Learn about the theory, data acquisition and processing of marine magnetic surveying for anthropogenic sources such as unexploded ordinance (UXO).
Careful data processing is needed to successfully complete a UXO marine survey. In this course we will discuss how to process both single magnetometer as well as gradient system (TVG and vertical gradient) data.
Specifically, we will cover how to clean (de-spike and smooth) altimeter and magnetic data and perform path and data corrections.
Furthermore, we will look at ways to determine a good background and subtract that from the magnetic data. We will calculate the analytical signal, from which we can pick target peaks.
We will cover a variety of ways to automate your target picking, both from gridded and profile data. Finally, we can invert targets of interest for depth below seabed, size, and magnetic moment.
This course will be delivered as 4-hour sessions run over the course of 4 days (4 x 4hr = 20 hr total).
To make the most of this course, please ensure you have a stable internet connection, and a secondary screen is highly recommended.
To ensure a quality training experience for all participants, courses are capped at 6 attendees."

Thomas studied Geophysics at the University of Southampton (2011). His career has seen him work in terrestrial geophysics at RSK, specialist UXO survey and processing with BACTEC (Safelane Global) and in a wide range of marine environments with Fugro GBML.
In addition to his more general geophysical experience, Thomas’s specialist knowledge in UXO survey and processing has seen him working and training others throughout the UK and Europe, as well as in the USA and Asia.
In his role as Processing Manager, Thomas is responsible for data processing, interpretation and reporting, and liaising with clients to provide solutions that best fit their needs.
