The first day (4 hours) will be spent reviewing the theory behind SLOPE/W, setting up a stability analysis involving definition of materials, spatial functions and trial slip surfaces. Also more complex problems will be explored such as slip surface optimization, incorporating pore water pressure into your SLOPE/W analysis and finally how to analyze slope stabilization measures in the form of reinforcements.
The second day (4 hours) will be spent reviewing the theory behind SEEP/W, discussing the distinction between steady-state and transient flow problems, and the focus on various examples in the SEEP/W domain, analyzing complex flow conditions involving saturated and unsaturated stratum. If time permits, a brief insight into the SEEP 3D domain.
The third day (4 hours) will review the theory behind SIGMA/W, how to set up a SIGMA/W analysis and the various analysis types, available soil strength models, and examples of Strength Reduction Stability (SRS) and consolidation analyses.
If time permits, a brief insight into the SLOPED3D will be included.
A pre-requisite to this course is completing the GeoStudio Getting Started session or GeoStudio Basics.
