From field to design:

A cloud connected workflow for transportation infrastructure ground engineering

Transportation infrastructure presents some of the most diversely complex challenges in ground engineering – and it’s not getting any easier. A next generation step in providing insight and oversight is needed for everyone involved, and digital transformation of ground engineering has great potential to add value if you know where to look.

From field to design:

A cloud connected workflow for transportation infrastructure ground engineering

Following on from our latest eBook: Ground Control, this webinar series will put the spotlight on how cloud connected workflows can transform your productivity and effectiveness across the ground engineering value chain and expose some common misconceptions.

From borehole logging to slope stability, the intelligent and interconnected use of geoscience data at every stage of the workflow, can be a highly effective mechanism in instilling confidence and reducing risk for both Consultants and Owners.

Register now and join our live sessions with a chance for live Q&A, or if the time is not suitable, registrants can get access to these recordings at the end of the series.

This webinar series is also available in the North America/Europe time zone.

Session 1: Site investigation and geological interpretation

Providing data integrity from ground to cloud ensures your teams no longer waste their time battling with disparate geoscience data. A 3D geological engineering model will change how you and your stakeholders look at the ground beneath your project, bringing clarity to even the most complex subsurface conditions.

When possible, data gaps between boreholes can be filled by appropriate geophysical data, giving more confidence in subsurface conditions.

In this session you will learn:

  • Collecting data in the field with OpenGround’s Data Collector and seamless data transfer through the Cloud to OpenGround
  • How you can integrate all of your borehole data and geophysical data to create a ground model that accurately portrays the subsurface geology
  • Seamless data integration between OpenGround and Leapfrog, and Oasis montaj and Leapfrog via Central
  • Compare first–pass geological models in Leapfrog with 2D and 3D geophysical models to better map subsurface units
  • Working with a single source of truth to communicate with colleagues throughout the lifecycle of the project

Session 2: Geotechnical domain modelling and connected analysis

You need to ensure you build and operate resilient and safe infrastructure. Sound numerical analysis validates design and construction works, enabling contractors to safely deliver projects and owner operators to ensure resilient and reliable operation.

In this session you will learn:

  • Efficient generation of 2D serial sections and 3D meshes/geometries in Leapfrog Works
  • Seamless 2D and 3D interoperability between Leapfrog Works and GeoStudio through Central
  • How a dynamically updated digital twin enables rapid re-interpretation of site conditions and numerical models
  • 2D slope stability analysis at a tunnel entrance using the market leading limit equilibrium stability software, SLOPE/W

Session 3: Data management and collaboration

A subsurface digital twin approach is future proofing for resilient and sustainable operation. Give your teams a unified and cohesive workspace in the cloud that keeps everyone up to date with changes as they happen, ensuring consistency to minimise risk.

In this session you will learn:

  • How Central can support BIM processes
  • Transparent and auditable tracking of model changes
  • Achieving improved collaboration around ground conditions between all project team members from anywhere in the world
  • Tools for project management and integrated review processes
